Due increased access to land a woman is able to harvest
a lot of cassava planted outside the camp. It is even safe
for children to come along outside the camp (2005) This
increased access to more means of livelihood is due to the
peace efforts that have led to the military appoach being

A historical photograph taken in about 1994-5 when Human
Rights Focus just started. A number of these individuals
came together to found HURIFO, to stand up and speak for
the voiceless human rights victims particularly in the conflict
affected northern Uganda. One placard reads: "NEGOTIATIONS
AND NOT MILITARY CONFRONTATION ARE THE CHEAPEST AND MOST
CIVILISED WAYS OF RESOLVING CONFLICT"

Human Right Volunteers receive bicycles that will facilitate
them with transportation, enabling them to move in their
