HURIFO - Who we are

HURIFO's mision is
to contribute towards the promotion of human rights and good governance.

Our slogan is "Peace and Justice for all".

This has been done by working closely with the community at various levels to raise the level of their awareness on human rights, and be able to stand up and defend their rights as well as of other victims or the less privileged. It is every's body's duty to defend human rights of all peron's. Become an active Human Rights Defender

HURIFO's Goal's and Objectives
The overall goal of HURIFO is
“To create and enabling environment for protecting, improving, and promoting human rights in Uganda in particular and the world in general”

In pursuit of this goal, HURIFO will work towards the following strategic objectives over the period 2006-2009:

  • To enhance awareness and respect of human rights.
  • To promote mechanisms that enhance human rights and good governance.
  • Improve and expand networking with organizations and individuals pursuing similar objectives and causes.
  • To empower communities to demand for and participate in good governance, justice and accountability.
  • To enforce human rights and promote reconciliation among individuals, communities and institutions.
  • To empower internally displaced persons to demand and enjoy their human rights.

HURIFO shall also aim for the following institutional objectives;

  • To consolidate and expand resource base to ensure sustainability.
  • To acquire own home/premises.
  • To strengthen the capacity of HURIFO to efficiently and effectively promote human rights and good governance, justice and accountability.
